Discrimination against people of color in the United States is a behavior that has become normalized over time. This is an incorrect and uncomfortable situation that people who are not white-skinned in that country have to endure every day. In addition to being discriminated against, they have fewer opportunities and are more vulnerable to criticism and negative acts from society.
One of the films where this situation is represented is Green Book, a film that could become the winner of best film at the 2019 Academy Awards. It is a film by Peter Farrelly that currently has five Oscar nominations (best film, editing, original script, actor and supporting actor) It is a true story, starring a refined African-American pianist and a rude Italian-American chauffeur and bodyguard, who works in a club in New York.
According to Farrelly, “Three years ago I ran into Brian Hayes Currie on the street, who was in a couple of my films. I told him: 'What are you up to?', and he told me that he was writing a script, based on a friend's father. The story was about a pianist, whose record label sent him on tour in the South. He was nervous about going, so he went to the Copacabana club and hired the toughest guard, an Italian with a primary school education who was racist, to take him. And despite their differences, the two become friends. Hearing the story I could only think it was a joke, I didn't believe it was real, but he assured me that it absolutely was.”

The southern states fought for legislation that would combat the free movement of African Americans through the American Union, especially those who intended to embark on vacation trips.
Green compiled places in NY where Africans were welcome. In the book there was a list of local establishments, such as shops, restaurants, hotels and warehouses that allowed entry to everyone equally.
